---------------------- UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS ---------------------- Choose which instructions to follow: A) Upgrading from ArticleLive 2005 OR B) Upgrading from a previous ArticleLive NX version (any) ----------------- UPGRADE OPTION A ----------------- To upgrade to ArticleLive NX from ArticleLive 2005.0.* (PHP only), follow these instructions: 1. Download your existing ArticleLive config.php file from the admin/includes directory to your PC 2. Upload the entire contents of the Articlelive zip file to a folder on your web server in or below the root directory, such as /articlelive. You can overwrite your old Articlelive files also 3. Upload your old config.php file that your downloaded in step 1 into your articlelive/admin/includes folder 4. Make sure the config.php file is writable (CHMOD 757) 5. Go to http://www.yoursite.com/articlelive/admin in your web browser. Replace "www.yoursite.com" with the domain name of your web site 6. The upgrade wizard will start 7. Complete each step in the upgrade wizard but make sure your ArticleLive MySQL user has full create table and alter table permissions. NOTE: If you move your entire old directory rather than overriding it, you will need to copoy back across your /authorpics, /content_images, /html, /submitted_articles and /page_images ----------------- UPGRADE OPTION B ----------------- To upgrade to ArticleLive NX.1.5 from an earlier NX version, follow these instructions: 1. !! IMPORTANT !! Download your existing ArticleLive config.php file from the admin/includes directory to your PC 2. Upload the entire contents of the Articlelive zip file to a folder on your web server in or below the root directory, such as /articlelive. You can overwrite your old Articlelive files, although this may override any template changes you have made, so be sure to back up them as you will need to reapply them. 3. Upload your old config.php file that your downloaded in step 1 into your articlelive/admin/includes folder 4. Make sure the config.php file is writable (CHMOD 757) 5. Go to http://www.yoursite.com/articlelive/NX.1.5.update.php in your web browser. Replace "www.yoursite.com" with the domain name of your web site 6. The script will make minor changes to your MySQL database and will report successful or failure. 7. If successful, your copy of ArticleLive is now updated to NX.1.5. Enjoy. :)
